Colonialism isn’t behind us

We have a lot of nice, pretty talk in Canada about “reconciliation”, as though it’s the obvious next step to transition out of a colonial history. The problem is, it’s not history.

In this episode, Jared speaks with Cindy Blackstock, Max Fineday and Janelle Pewapsconias about the colonial sources of our greatest national health emergencies, and how the processes of colonization aren’t in Canada’s history, but still grow and perpetuate in our politics and communities today.

(Recorded, edited and published by Jared for Upstream).

Want to hear the full, unedited interview with Cindy Blackstock? The audio quality isn’t great, but the content is fascinating!
